-- Global Warming --

Full of awesomeness.

Skeptic finds he now agrees global warming is real

Skeptic finds he now agrees global warming is real by Seth Borenstein tells how a skeptic that didn’t know if the global warming theory was correct, now believes that the theory is correct and his proof.
The author’s purpose is to inform others that global warming is real. He uses facts like “…
he found that the land is 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s,” which makes readers believe that global warming is real. He also uses chronological order to show how the skeptic’s knowledge progressed as he finding out the truth of global warming. Because he brings up both arguments equally (criticizing science skeptics and the realness of global warming), it is not persuasive. The author makes him look like a good guy in page 1, but a “traitor” in page 2.
The author’s viewpoint is that the skeptic’s research is true and should be respected. Even though the author gave counterarguments to the skeptic’s research, he followed it up with more positive thoughts to say about the skeptic. He used a happy tone when talking about the positive achievements of the skeptic and negative tones about other people’s thoughts about the skeptic’s research. He uses words like “he determined they were right” and
“he found that the land is 1.6 degrees warmer than in the 1950s.”
The source’s accuracy is very high. The site where this article was posted on is Boston’s news meaning that it has to be unbiased to be a news article. The author also works for AP Science Writer (Associated Press), so he has to be familiar with science as well as writing. The author also includes a biography to show where he got his information.
Overall, this article is good for researching global warming. Though, there are lots of opinions from other scientists, this article provides lots of facts on global warming that can be used.

Global Warming is Fake!?

Global Warming is Fake – How you can tell by KutWrite tells how global warming isn’t real and logic can prove it.
The author’s purpose is to persuade audiences that global warming isn’t real. His/her arguments are one sided and he/she presents no counterarguments. He/she uses logos to convince the reader by using logical explanations and a list of problems with the other theory. His/her subtitle is named “Just Use Logic” meaning that the theory is very easy to exploit and simple logic can impose it. He/she also uses a list to present every way that the global warming theory is incorrect. The author has a ton of bias against all scientists by exploiting their mistakes.
The author’s viewpoint is that the global warming theory is false as said in the title of his/her article. Using basic text features such as the title (Global Warming is Fake - How YOU can tell) tells that he believes global warming is fake. He/she also uses a tone that everyone who believes in global warming is not making the right choice. He/she uses words like ‘skeptical’ and ‘beware’ so that people know that it might be a hoax. The author says, “So, beware of the scare! Don't believe "officials" just because of their title.”
The accuracy though, can be judged. The author uses HubPages to post his article. According to HubPages creator, HubPages is used to your advice, reviews, useful tips, opinions and insights with hundreds of other authors. So there might be incorrect insights and opinions on the site. The author is featured on radio shows and writes scripts, books and has a YouTube account. He uses them to communicate his insight towards others and they are not professional sources.
Overall, this is not a good source because of the extreme bias towards the other argument. The author doesn’t address the other viewpoint and the strengths of its theory. Also, the author is not a professional source.

What NWF does in Global Warming

Our Global Warming Work by the NWF is a short article of how global warming affects wildlife and what the WF does to stop it.
The author’s purpose is to inform. I know this because the author informs the reader of what global warming is. He/she also informs the reader of how the NWF cuts greenhouse gas emissions. It is not persuasion because the author never addresses the reader. He only writes about what the NWF does such as “Advocating for Clean Energy Sources” and “Safeguarding Wildlife and Ecosystems”. The author uses bullet points to list the different ways the National Wildlife Federation is helping prevent global warming. He uses 1 fact that is very bias in the beginning of his article.
The author’s viewpoint is that global warming is horrendous and the NWF are doing good by stopping it. He/she uses bias facts such as “In the lifetime of a child born today, 20-30 percent of the world's plant and animal species will be on the brink of extinction because of global warming.” He/she uses bold words that are important and significant. This quote uses a negative tone of global warming and uses words like “brink of extinction”. He also uses a picture of a duck to illustrate that many animals will be affected by global warming.
This article is very trustworthy because of the author’s credentials. The author works in the NWF, which is the largest American wildlife conservation organization. It is also updated a lot to show exact info. He/she also links to other pages to show that they are helping to solve that problem.
Overall, this article is very good at conveying what global warming is, how it affects the environment, and what NWF are doing to stop it. There is a little bias, there being no counterargument in the issue of global warming, but there is another article on their site. This page and site are great for people researching global warming, its effects and what people are doing to prevent it.
